From Montmartre to New Orleans
A dual graduate in classical piano and jazz from the Paris Conservatory, Jérémie Henan turned his passion for jazz and New Orleans into a true life journey.
Training
A native of the Montmartre district of Paris, Jérémie Henan graduated from the Regional Conservatory of Paris in classical piano (2011) and from the Paris National Conservatory of Music and Dance (CNSMDP) in jazz piano (2019).
This dual background in classical and jazz music gives him a rich and versatile musical foundation, allowing him to offer personalised lessons ranging from basic technique, reading and music theory, to jazz, blues, stride and classical repertoire.
Stage and projects
In Paris, Jérémie performed at some of the most renowned jazz clubs, including the Duc des Lombards, 38Riv' Jazz Club and Chez Plumeau in Montmartre. He notably performed Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue with the Conservatoire Laureates Orchestra, as part of Alain Altinoglu's conducting class (2018).
Driven by his passion for jazz and New Orleans, he moved to the Crescent City where he is actively involved in the local music scene. He has performed at the New Orleans Jazz Museum alongside drummer Herlin Riley.
Teaching commitment
With over 10 years of teaching experience, Jérémie has accumulated numerous experiences across different schools and academies, including the Messiaen Conservatory, as well as the American universities Loyola University and Tulane University in New Orleans.
For Jérémie, teaching is part of a virtuous circle for a musician. He offers personalised lessons tailored to each student's goals, with a touch of humour and perspective.
Album and compositions
His first album "Rêverie" (2021), a synchretism of his jazz and classical influences, tells dreams, life stories and his early life in Paris. Recorded at Debussy's birthplace in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, with Géraud Portal on double bass and Raphael Pannier on drums.
